Safety netting inspectors competency
Course objectives
This new and unique course has been purposely designed to follow the requirements contained in the British Standards for the Installation and Inspection of Safety Netting Systems:
- BS 1263 Part One 1997: Safety requirements, test methods
- BS 1263 Part Two 1998: Safety requirements for the erection of safety nets
This form of post-fall protection acts after the fall and is therefore not considered to be an effective form of fall prevention, it should only be used after both fall prevention and fall restraint measures have been considered as part of a safe system of work.
The intended purpose of nets is to prevent fallers hitting the ground and sustaining serious injuries. Therefore they must be inspected daily and reported on weekly as if this was any other piece of work equipment provided for the Health & Safety of workers.
